I'm selling my DeGier Origin Custom 5 Jazz Bass
Handmade by Dutch luthier Sander De Gier

Body: Alder
Neck: Maple, with slanted headstock
Fingerboard: Birds eye Maple Neck
Color: Vintage color TS, pickguard white
Pickups: Nordstrand Big split coil
Electronics: Aguilar OBP-3 preamp
Bridge: Custom De Gier / ETS
Tuners: Hipshot ultralight
Bag: De Gier heavy leather gigbag

Bolt-on neck 34" scale. Aguilar OBP3 electronics with active/passive push/pull-pot and push/pull-pot for the mid frequency (400/800Hz).
The string spacing at the bridge is 18 mm.
The bass is lightweight (about 4,1kg) and very well balanced, the tone is superb, very even, and, to use a clichee, like a 'jazz on stereoids'.
B string is great, better than any other 5 stringer I've tried.
Great playability, very low action is possible, if that's your thing.

This video gives a good impression of the sound (sorry it's in German). This is actually the exact same bass that I'm selling:

Here's Richard Bona playing a De Gier bass:

The bass is in immaculate condition, can't find any scratches or dents.
The only two details I want to mention are that the mid pot doesn't snap into place when it's in the middle/flat position and that the zip of the leather bag only opens one way.

So why are you selling this bass you might ask.... well, it was an experiment too see how I would get on with an active non-Fender bass... and the answer is, even though the DeGier is a much better bass than my Fender, I still prefer the 20 frets neck of my Fender (probably just because I got so used to it) and can't really justify keeping both.

The bass is located in Austria, but will of course ship to the UK and the rest of Europe.
Any questions just send me a PM.

Only trade option: Vintage Music Man Sabre

i think Sander makes one of the finest electric basses ever produced,.. i played a bebop of a friend in London, and it was possibly one of the best jazz basses I've ever played. it was really just something else, very light, very resonant. superb tone, Lindy Fralin pickups. i believe Marcus Miller bought the first production BeBop's he made. ?

Thanks Bubinga, this bass is really one of the best jazz bass fivers I've ever played, great b-string too. if it was passive with 20 frets I would never sell it. just got too used to the ole fender style (might try a bebop at some point ; )
