icastle
Yup, the Guitar Show in Birmingham - exactly the same weekend as the LBGS 2014.
Ah yes, that was the one. I guess most of the 'missing' companies had enough staff and exhibition kit to do one or the other, but not both. I dare say it'll pick up over the next few years now it's becoming established, provided the dates are chosen sensibly and it's seen as a cost effective way of increasing brand awareness. nbtone
I'm starting to watch the videos on youtube of the London Bass Guitar Show clinics and comparing them to the ones at Bass Player Live. MrV the grin
In fairness, it is the London BASS GUITAR Show. I'd like to see Yamaha amongst the exhibitors: finding their basses to try is quite hard in my experience. I can't believe that they can't afford the show fees.
Fair enough fella. We'll just leave those awkward looking upright things out of it then eh? Lets just plug in and get loud.
Kiwi
FWIW Yamaha have their own shop in Bond Street - which they took over from Chappells. It's easy to pop along and have a plunk on stuff if they have it in stock and the mood strikes.
Alun
And have a very lovely red Pattitucci 6 string in stock :-) I didn't dare try it just in case!!
BassAgent
Right, I got my plane ticket last week so I'll be attending as well, Saturday only. I like the performers so far but I'd love to see more "regular" players. Mark King and Billy Sheehan are great and all, but more of the "extravagant" styles of playing Since I'm not really an extravagant player myself, I'd love to see some groove guys like Meshell, Pino, Paul Turner or Chris Wood. Silvia Bluejay
There was a stampede for Mark King two years ago, and we survived. And a different kind of stampede for John Taylor (middle-aged Duranettes, as opposed to middle aged slap-mad bassists).
Bassjon
Gotta love John Taylor, great bassist!
dudewheresmybass
John Taylor was a nice bloke too! Shame his 'show' talked more about his book than the nitty gritty of his playing style and equipment

The best clinic/live performance I have seen at the various shows (IMO opinion of course) was Dave Marks', it was entertaining, instructive and well structured. I wish he'd do another. Silvia Bluejay
The LBGS organisers have just announced a double bass builder, http://www.thomasmartin.co.uk/, among the exhbitors.
BGM run LBGS - because they run some live news stuff they will often pre-promote on the magazine news pages ahead of the show site. Gets them additional site traffic and good for SEO if they release lots of current news articles
dudewheresmybass
Still not sure if I'll bother. The guests this year to me are meh, with the exception of perhaps billy, and the exhibitors list seems lacking.
SpaceChick
I was hoping to make it this year, but I've got a gig instead. Would have liked to have seen Mark King too. Another year maybe!

Westie9
Whilst I really do enjoy the show each year it does appear very light on both performers and exhibitors. Given the date now is there likely to be a stampede of those wanting to show us their wares? Are BGM holding off announcements?
