TonyBones
Hi guys, not been here for a while but I could really do with some help. I've got a 2012 P and like I have with every p I've owned ive just swapped the custom shop pickups it came with to a set of 62's as I love there sound. Trouble is ive got a distinct crackling noise every time I touch the polepieces and I've never come up against it before. Everything checked and checked again, cavity lined with copper foil but still this noise, ?
icastle
I've had that on a JB. I did the obvious thing first - checked that cabling was connected as per the instructions and then just painted a layer of clear nail varnish over the pole pieces. mickster
Seconded on the nail varnish trick. I made exactly the same p/u swap on my 2012 US Standard, and solved the issue by painting the poles. The other way to do this is to run a grounding strip of some sort along the bottom of the poles, but the varnish trick is easier and has no effect on tone. KiOgon
Reverse the connections - (swap black & white) & see what it's like.
