bubinga5
i will write a review of this bass shortly.. is there any 5 string that can touch it for the price.? its easily as good if not better(because of its thunderous/focussed low B string than a Sadowsky Metro and about £700 cheaper. i had a Sadowsky RV5 and the B string was flabby compared to this bass. Its one of the later Indonesian made basses with theLH3 and Lakland pickups. I've only ever played 34" scale basses.. never even noticed the 35" scale. mcnach
Nice bass, eh? And indeed, the 35" scale made no difference whatsoever to me. Because I read the specs, otherwise I'd have thought it was the standard 34".
Cameronj279
Had a Lakland 5501 with nordstrand pickups and I agree with you on the low B remark. The B on the 5501 is one of the clearest I've heard (beaten by Dingwall and the odd Warwick).
bassmayhem
I've had two 55-02, still have one, as well as a US 55-94. These basses have B-strings to die/kill for. The difference between the 55-02 and 55-94 is marginal, mostly the touch of the neck - oiled on US, laquered on Skyline - and somewhat heavier Skyline. The B-string is fundamental. I have a Yamaha JP2 also, it has the same 35" scale and a really firm low end, but still the Lakie B is in a league of its own. I have never played a Lakie with the LH3 system, though, just two generations of Barts...
