Although the pic doesn't show it, it's trans-white, based on a Precision I saw at a store in the 70's but could never afford.

That's definitely a good reason to show us some better pics!

You could afford a Wal but not a 70's P ? :)

Saw the P when I was about 16 with no money. The Wal I bought used and it was damaged. Major gouge between two of the knobs. Thus the repair, refinish and had it fretted at the same time. Actually bought the Wal for $150US then paid about $500 for repairs. Still working on better pics. I think lighting is my current problem...

That's still only $650 in total!!
That was in 1984 or 85. A guy came into Rhythm City where the keyboard player in my band worked. He called me and said someone was coming over to sell me a bass and that I would buy it... so I did.

i think porn is slightly boring in the sense that it leaves little to the imagination, pics of nice basses on the other hand, well yeah...

I've posted some tracks on my myspace page with me playing my Wal Mark II Fretless 5. It has sycamore facings and I am using just the bridge pickup with eq flat and pick-attack engaged. There are a couple of solos where the sound is quite exposed for Wal sound listening pleasure.

Please excuse the rough nature of the tracks. They were just trial-runs of a couple of compositions and an in-studio improv based on a composed theme.

Thanks for the link; really enjoyed 'Sing'! Hope you don't mind me saying but your playing reminds me of the chap who used to play on all the early Kate Bush albums..

Thanks for listening.

I really enjoy "Sing"...great to play and play over. Wrote it way back in 1983!

I don't mind you saying at all. I am not familiar with Kate's early stuff as I first learned of her from her duet with Peter Gabriel on his "So" album, but she has had some great bassists with her and I'll take your saying as a compliment! I just found Del Palmer's myspace page and have listened to one song thus far. Sounds good and his fretless is there. I also remember listening to Eberhard on some instrumentals a long time ago. Also impressive, substantially melodic and improvisatory...both which I like.

I hope to get more stuff posted but have to learn how to use my Logic first!

Best,

Andro

Bugg£r
Well according to a thread on one in the 'for sale' forum I should be asking £3500 because it's an original, 'pre-licence' model
But actually.... it's not for sale.....

Sorry!

Here's mine:

It's apparently a 1983 TR1, but I'm not entirely sure to be honest, so if anyone wants to shine any light on that one, please feel free :)

Never heard of a TR1. It looks more like one of the short-lived budget range Wal did in the late 80s/early 90s.

Nice bass though, I used to have something very similar.

Cheers, I'd never heard of a TR1 either until a Wal nut mentioned it to me, hence why I'm using apparently everytime I say it :) Either way I'm not fussed which one it is, and there's no such thing a a cheap Wal  It plays and sounds amazing though!

gold hardware
fretted macassar ebony neck
solid Spanish cedar body
4,4 kgs

yummy!!
