CH161
Lovely looking bass. Does it have the original case? Any pickup dates? Also any body routs at all? Thanks...
nonkel26
There's an old fender case , I think "late sixties" but it is very worn, a lot of tolex is missing, so is the handlle. I don't know about pick-up dates, where can I find them? I will try to find out this weekend.
CH161
Pick up dates would be on the bottom of the pick up - assuming they remembered to date them! Maybe a pic if possible and of the case? Cheers...
No, 1963 pickups were not dated at all. They should have black bobbins and maroon coloured coil wires. Solderings should be untouched. The black covers should have a more satin surface instead of a glossy one. GLWTS

GLWTS
Just to add that the tops of the pole pieces should be beveled. Pickups wire colour can vary in some rare instances, and a rewind wouldn't be uncommon either. The pickups wires looks pretty old and spot on according to the pics of the pots. Edit: where's my manners... Looks like a lovely bass, GLWTS!
