TKS Engineering speakers thread

Someone mentioned that it would be good with a TKS speaker porn thread, so I thought I would kick it off. Initially I owned a TKS 212, which tied me over until I got a pair of W2126 build for me. The 212 replaced an Ibanez Promethean P410C and it was a real lift in sound. Much fuller in the sound (can a speaker sound confident? Well, this one did) and the 12s just delivered more sound pressure.

I had originally tried the TKS 2128 at a bass meet in Sweden, and fell in love with them. So I ordered some from Tommy at TKS. He had just decided that he was going to build them with 6s instead of the 8 inch I had tested, so I ordered the first once like that he built. I also aquired some custom cloth from the US which Tommy kindly mounted. I asked him to supply the TKS logos separately so I could put them on myself. Thereby the unortodox placement of these. Tommy also got me the grill mounting screws with the rifpght colour for me. And a special patterned vinyl. Nice.

The W2126s have a killer sound. I primarily play hardrock and they are just perfect for me. The secret sauce in my view are the 6s which gives nice high mids and treble without sounding harsh or fizzly.

They are indeed the first W2126s!

What they look like without protective speaker grill.

I could write pages about my S112 but I think the best thing I can say is that it looks as good as it sounds. Simply stunning. I'm not sure that photos do the oxblood grille justice but is a lovely colour. I popped a photo of the cab cover in too so people can see how good it is!

Looks very nice that colour combo. And we know it sounds great too. What more do we need? Och yeah they are lightweight and not expensive for what one gets. ;)

I wouldn't have picked that combo but it looks great...

Thanks mate. I spent lots of time agonising over which style to go for! I wanted tweed, but thought it wouldn't look quite right with the Markbass yellow. Pictures still don't do them justice though!

I do like your colour combo. I only went for black and oxblood because I have basses that would all sit nicely with those two colours. So sad but it's worth those little details!

That looks fantastic. Just for the records, is the 6 driver attenuable like the optional tweeter? Just I don't see many back panel photos going on.

No attenuator for the 6. Personally I think the balance between the drivers really works well and cutting the 6 would adversely effect the tone.

Obviously everyone's ears are different though :)

This. As I've said before, the 6" driver in these cabs is their secret weapon :)

So, last night's gig was in a converted church. I'd played there before, so I knew it could be a difficult room, and I was a bit worried that the TKS wouldn't sound that good in there. I am pleased to say I was very wrong :). A little bass and mid cut and we were away with a terrific sound, full but not boomy at all.

Everyone in both my bands love this cab.
