Dazed
So does anyone have one they can share any experience of? Any real life experienced users here? Interested to hear what impressions users have. Tonally and practically. How hardwearing is the composite neck and fretwork? discreet
Never heard of 'em, but thanks for the heads up... they look pretty wild! http://www.basslab.de/
Dazed
Welcome Specifically looking at the Soul model. As its a hollow body ( actually the whole thing is hollow !) wondering how it sounds? There's loads of samples on the site but mostly all virtuoso types, looking for more traditional playing in a band kinda situation.
rungles
I've been a long-time fan of Basslab but have never played one.

rungles
Yeah, they need to be thinking outside the box a little more...

Dazed
Nah, they've been producing those designs for 10 years or more. I'm interested in these http://www.basslab.de/pics/instruments/soul/index.html

rungles
Jerry Auerswald is another one to check out if you like this sort of thing. He's a true innovator - he built the original Prince 'Symbol' guitar. http://www.auerswald-instruments.com
andybassdoyle
Try bassandtuba. He had a white 5 string soul with Delano's I think. We were in discussion about a deal on it a while ago but in the end I opted for an old school jazz bass made out of wood! Based on the feedback these are high quality basses and very light. No real downsides other than the love/hate asthetic (although the Soul model is much more conventional). I still like the look of that white soul bass... Dazed
Stupidly light, the white one above is approx 6.5 lbs! Has some acoustic volume with it being hollow body so could be used to practice. The more I read the more sense they make.

rungles
Holoflake paint is the Mosquitos mojitos. I do wish they wouldn't put that LED under the strings though (low battery indicator). That's like one of the horrible things the 16 year old me used to do to my guitars.

BigRedX
A few years ago when I was looking at these it was possible to get a demo model to try for a week for the cost of shipping the bass to you and back to Basslab. I would get in touch with them and see if they still offer this service.
