TimR Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014
And a modern stadium that will have factored in live sound/gigs being part of its income so would probably have engineered it to a degree. The old Wembley had a crowd 'roar'...which was great for football as the atmosphere was very good, but it was also a dustbin ( which helped achieve the 'roar' ) and the more modern stadiums aren't so closed in...and have less crowd sound. One doesn't compliment the other ..
That's what I was thinking. I remember they closed the roof for a Rugby final a while back. Don't think it was done because of the weather. Rugby is an all weather sport (except on frozen ground). Quote
TimR Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Yes. You wouldn't want the roof closed at a gig!! http://www.saracens.com/stadium-roof-closed-for-heineken-cup-final/ Quote
cb1 Posted December 31, 2014 Posted December 31, 2014 Been to several gigs at the Band on the Wall Manchester. Bass sound always poor- no definition, even for Jimmy Haslip. Harvey Mason's Bass drum boomed all night long - which of course got in the way of the Bass guitar. Quote
Chrismanbass Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 Its not live but anyone else watch Queen + Adam Lambert last night and think the mix for broadcast was very good bass sound was excellent classic P Bass tone and everything sounded crisp and tight Quote
Lozz196 Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 I thought the bass was a tad quiet but yes great Precision tone, you could pick out all instruments easily enough. The only thing I didn`t like was the extra percussion, I thought that was mixed too high. Quote

Chrismanbass Posted January 1, 2015 Posted January 1, 2015 yeh it was a proper queen gig i've also worked in that room as a sound eng. its not easy its a big church and so its very lively but by all accounts the sound in the room was just as good as on tv Quote
