Guest Jecklin
Hello All In preparation for an EP I'm getting together I've just put up a single version on Bandcamp under my solo performance moniker Jecklin. No bass guitar I'm afraid. It's all recorded live in one take using contrabassoon (my main instrument) sampler and drum synth driving an activated snare drum recorded to stereo using a Jecklin disc. The single version is missing three sections from the EP (which is approximately 15 minutes long and will be recorded later this year). This will have limited appeal on Basschat, but if you have an interest in contemporary chamber music, electroacoustic composition, ambient or dark ambient music check it out http://jecklin.bandcamp.com/ All comments welcome. Cheers Thomas Edited November 24, 2014 by Jecklin
Guest Jecklin
...hmmm ok, just testing whther one can embed the bandcamp player on a baschat page. It appears not. Edited November 24, 2014 by Jecklin
ambient
Cool, I really liked the bit at about 1.50 onwards where you have the 2 registers playing. It's a cool idea having the triggered percussion, like on the other track of yours I was listening to a few weeks ago. Just using the vibrations of the instruments to play the snare. I really hope to come see you when you eventually play live somewhere.

Guest Jecklin
Thanks so much Ian and Thebassist. When performed live the effect of the layered tones will be initially slightly disconcerting to the audience as it won't be clear where they are coming from. Live dates are gradually being assembled for the 1st quarter of next year. The full length EP version of this will be out in January. ambient
I think woodwind instruments have such a beautiful timbre. I wrote a piece earlier in the year for a bass and oboe, I used a sample for the composing part, then sent a chart to an oboist to record, what I got back was so beautiful. What's the instrumentation for your gigs ? I'm definitely going to come along.
Guest Jecklin
Cheers Shep! thanks The instrumentation at gigs will be precisely the same as the recording infact Ian. The piece came about as a way to be able to get the aesthetic across completely solo, so it's just Contrabassoon, manually triggered sampler playing the long contra' tones and then the drum synth playing the percusive loops. The piece is deliberately simple. Both the Sampler and Drum synth' are connected to vibration speakers which are placed on the snare drum, giving an acoustic means of reproducing electronic signals. Ideally I'd like to perform entirely acoustically, but I'd need a small and virtually silent audience which is fine for art galleries and the such, but limits things in more conventional gig venues. I'll definitley let you know when the gigs are.
ambient
You know I find much of modern day life to be pretty rubbish. Non-mainstream music being able to find its audience is probably one of the better things.
