Final Price dropped to £1200

If it doesn't sell at this price it will become parts!

I have for sale this Fender 1976 Precision Bass in a Black nitro refin.

This bass plays great and looks great.

Some time in the past the owner had a Jazz pickup and an extra pot fitted in the control cavity. Both of these routs have now been professionally restored, and the body has been refinished in black. The routs are very well done and not at all obvious to the eye
(see third picture from top).

One of the pickups has been replaced with a 1974 (on inspection of the date code) the other is the original 1976.

This is a great player's bass and I've priced it in accordance to the changes.

All other parts original 1976 and correct.

Neck: 1976 - a few bits of lacquer wear on the back (shown in photos) otherwise fine.

Pots: 1975 (both). Normal for a 76 Bass.

Pickups: One 1976, one 1974 both original Fender.

Body: 1976 - refin in black, routs professionally repaired.

Bridge, knobs, string tree, tuners and strap buttons: Correct

Guard: Replaced with an original 1976 Black guard (original guard to this bass had extra hole for pot).
Very end of guard near jack socket broken off. Quite a common thing with these old pickguards.

Serial number: 647***

Hiscox case included.

A good old Fender Precision with a few changes but plenty of mojo.

Thanks. It's an honest bass. It's spent its life as a player. Always a good thing!

There are some things it can be wise to put on your advert, like,
1. Whether you will courier.
2. The area you live, eg, London, Liverpool etc.
3. If you will consider trades.
You will probably get one or two more folk interested, as, fickle as we are, if those details are not readily available, some may be uncomfortable sending PM's.

All good points! Thanks for that.

The bass and myself are in London.
I'm very happy to send the bass out by courier at cost. £30 in its case.
I'm also very happy for interested parties to come and try it out here.
Would rather sell than trade, but always interested in other things bass or guitar so let me know.
Thanks.

Best I could do is my Thumb (link below) and £250.
I could have pm'd that, but at least the competition know what they are up against

Bump.

And to you Mr SpikeBass :i-m_so_happy:

Often one of the frustrations when you are selling something, is people pm you, but don't bump your ad.
You both pm'd and bumped, well done that man!

Guys, I'd like to thank you both for such a spirited and sporting joust here!

The truth is there's more interest than I expected with trades, and so much to think about.

Now I have to think about it some more - but I shall return.

Thanks guys...

One of the reasons you have so much interest Cliff is that you have done an excellent advert.
Often, 70's basses up, no photos of insides.
Well, I reckon people will be happier to shell out if there are good provenential photos. Like yours.
So, nice one,

Thanks Karlfer, and thanks Karl.

Just a note that I am very interested in old Fenders.

If anyone has anything and wants to trade with this 76 I can do cash your way.
