On a more serious note, The Clash's version of I Fought the law (and the Dead Kennedys' version for that matter), The Beat's version of Tears of a Clown (not better, but different in a great way), and The Damned's version of Eloise.

Also, I loved the Scissor Sisters version of Comfortably Numb. I love the original, but I love when a band takes a cover and takes chances with it, beyond a somple copy, or a bit of an update.

[/quote]But Joe Cockers version was the theme tune to The Wonder Years, so it has to be better Obviously it is all subjective. A lot of covers, some people wouldn`t even know was a cover. I prefer Janis Joplin singing Ball and Chain, but some people would say Big Mama Thorntons is better.
