The Admiral
I've put this here for maximum exposure. I was in my local Aldi this afternoon and they have some basic guitar stands, but complete with foam padding and rubber band securing strap across the neck - for £6.95. They won't take a lot of abuse I wouldn't think, but if you want something for a bedroom studio or the gig bag, it looked pretty robust, and at that price....... Cheers A
spacey
The rubber on those budget stands will mark lacquered necks so mask it off.

The Admiral
Did they have any other guitar stuff?
Just some really cheap 'western guitars', but still boxed. No idea if they could be remotely playable. They did have some nice folding sack trucks the other week. Aluminium and black moulded plastic, which looked like they may have been handy for getting your rig into a gig, but they seem to go like lightning. And the Argentinian Malbec at £5.99 is superb! Yup, I bought one of their Western Steel String guitars for £35.99. Dreadnought size, laminated wood, intoned bridge , adjustable truss rod, bound 'rosewood' board, gloss heavy metal black and plays like a good'n. Stays in tune and intonation is pretty damn good. Great for a cheap blues finger picker / slide tool. Edited December 2, 2014 by Jazzneck
yorks5stringer
Be aware, as I bought one of their music stands a while ago, that although they have a good warranty, when they break they will not have any more in stock and you just get your money back. Not an issue but you then have to source a new stand!
Annoying Twit
While we're talking cheap guitar stands, would this be usable? http://www.juno.co.uk/products/chord-5-way-multi-guitar-rack-stand/526157-01/?currency=GBP&flt=1&gclid=CL_E7vGIqMICFUbMtAodBhQA0w

Marvin
Don't forget Lidl. I'm seriously thinking about getting one of the guitars for the kids. kodiakblair
AT Those Chord stands are rubbish. I bought one a few months back and straightaway I knew it was junk. I normally use Stagg SGA010 stands but Adrenaline never had them in stock so I got the Chord one. The assembly was lousy, it's in about 12 - 15 parts the Stagg's only 7. The welded nut snapped off when attaching the top rail, the Stagg has a shoulder fitting far better IMO. Even allowing for the broomhandle dook I fitted the whole thing is very unstable. When I contacted the seller they told just to bin it and refunded the money, a week later Adrenaline had the Staggs back in stock. Damn thing is I need another one and guess what out of stock again. Got 2 of the stands from Lidl last night as a stop-gap. Do the trick ok but like any foam keep well clear from nitro.

discreet
Got a couple of these for use in the house - fiver each. You do need to pay shipping at Thomann though, so best added to another order if poss. It wouldn't even hold a bloody ukulele safely, which is saying a lot. Edited December 2, 2014 by discreet
kodiakblair
I found this firm about an hour back. Looks very similar to the Stagg and they got them on offer. I emailed them about postage and widths so I'll update with them soon as I know but have a look at these. https://secure2.spiderscope.com/0710/application/index.asp?section=guitar-stands-9458

EDIT: Isn't this similar to another Stagg stand? http://www.amazon.co.uk/Spider-Guitar-stand-Electrics-Acoustics/dp/B006GQ4TX6/ref=cm_cr_pr_product_top I found that looking for reviews of Spider guitar stands. The one review that is there is glowing. I had a look on Thomann, and they have this: http://www.thomann.d...and_rs20861.htm But, it only holds 5 guitars/basses and is a lot more expensive, though still reasonable. kodiakblair
Thanks for sorting that out for me AT So the Spiders are £9 odds for delivery and if it comes in at less than 755mm wide I'm on a winner. That's all the space I've got left. It should do the Rockstand's 735mm.
KevB
I have a 3-way Rockstand from Thomann, about £25 at the time but they have gone up slightly, think they are about £27 inc postage now. The thing is sturdily built but because you have to lean the bass back at an angle to be really comfortable it is sitting firmly the neck then ends up jutting out a fair way out the back (obviously not such an issue with guitars) so they can't sit snugly up against a wall and i found the front was coming too far out into the room and being intrusive. It's not holding any basses at all at the moment, just dumped in the spare room taking up space. I have downsized my basses though so it's not really needed at present. It looks as if the low purchase price is being made up a bit by charging quite a lot for delivery. I considered PM'ing KevB to see what part of the East Mids he's in and what he wants for his stand, but I really need a stand to hold five or seven basses & guitars. kodiakblair
The delivery charge was quite high. I was £47.78 for both a 5 and a 7 Guitar stand. Paid about £24 each for the 7 stands from Adrenaline, they've been in touch saying they no longer stock the Stagg stands. 5 measures 610mm and the 7 is 810mm which is the same as the Stagg so my basses will line up at the same height. Oh they'll be here tomorrow Great for impatient folk like me.

Count Bassy
What about the Grolsch guitar stand? Buy twelve bottles of Grolsch. Drink them. You won't care where you put your guitar!
