JamesBass
So my Planet Waves cables has been playing up lately and I think in the new year I should invest in some new cables, not sure I'd stick with Planet Waves this time though, so what's out there? I've seen some videos/articles saying Asterope cables are great, along with some pretty lofty claims by the company themselves! Anyone had any experience with these? chris_b
Get your cables from Dave, OBBM here on BC. They are far better quality and price than any you'll find in a shop.
fingerz
I've been using Lava Ultramafic cables. Rigorously, on tour over the last year. Solid build quality, best cables I've ever had. You REALLY can hear a difference, I asked some of my students as I thought I was being a tart when I got them. They all heard the difference instantly and agreed there was 'more' of each instrument using the Lava. I read a lot of conflicting info when looking at shelling out on cables, but I'm glad I got some good stuff.

Thunderbird
I always use Snakebite cables now I really like them but I hear nothing but good things about OBBM so could well be worth trying those out
uncle psychosis
85% of the replies to this thread will recommend getting them from OBBM who is a member here. His kit looks very good. Personally I get mine from Rob Davies at Kabl. Top quality components, very reasonable prices. Bottle
I roll my own, only because I can I've used Canford HST cable and Neutrik connectors for near enough every balanced cable and I've not had any failures (yet). Mogami or VanDamme cable for all unbalanced instrument cables, and you can't go wrong with the Neutrik right-angled jack plugs to relieve the strain on the socket on your instrument. dincz
Just found this. There's some kind of in-line mystery box. Total bollards? http://www.aqdi.com/zerocap.htm ZEROCAP cables sound the same regardless of length? Yes. There is no passive 'premium' cable that can make that claim. Say you buy a 10 foot 'premium' cable for club use, and a 20 foot cable of the same brand for large stage use. The longer cable will have double the cable capacitance and will further murder your tone. All ZEROCAP cables have the same sound, regardless of length, as if they were not there!

mike257
Am I going to be the first to suggest taking up Planet Waves on their lifetime guarantee? Last PW cable that broke on me, I dropped an email to the UK distributor, popped it in the post and had a brand new replacement in my hand within a week or so. Whilst OBBM and Kabl both make great, reliable stuff and good cables are worth investing in, don't forget that you can get yours replaced without spending more than the postage to send it back! Paul S
I am surprised no-one has mentioned OBBM yet... I went through a phase of making my own but it doesn't really work out much cheaper and his stuff is so much better.
Drax
Been using Monster cables, love them, and yet to take them up the lifetime guarantee. However, in the spirit of keeping things local, will be giving OBBM / rockwire a go.
