JTUK Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014
Such a tricky thing to get right, any other colour is easy
It is, and you need to be careful of the cheaper WD plates as they looked awful to me. They are located, iirc. right next door to Sims so I went straight across the road to get one made. The price difference was around £30 compared to £65... but there was a world of difference between the two and Sims scanned and cut mine perfectly. The WD ones were off the shelf. It depends what you are putting it on..?? Quote

rungles Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Buy a clear one and print your own background. Quote

CH161 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 I've got some of all of these - real ones, WD, Fender reissue tort and some odd bad printed ones. The real ones still look best to me, but WD is the best of the bunch after that. Can't speak on Spitfire as I haven't got one yet - although I have one on order - not a cheap option though. Quote
rungles Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 One of the best pickguards I ever bought was a Stentor red tort. Not cheap by any means but very nicely made. What do you think of the Fender RI one's? Quote

rungles Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 Japanese too, which counts for a lot in my book Quote
CH161 Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 The Fender ones aren't too bad. Better than most digitally printed ones. They are expensive though, twice the price of the Stentor and look pretty similar from that pic. Quote
Jono Bolton Posted December 4, 2014 Posted December 4, 2014 If the stuff the Bass Doc used was from WD, then I'd go for that. I had a Bass Doc tort scratchplate for my P Bass that looked really nice, I would have kept it if it weren't for the fact that the scratchplate was so poorly made. In hindsight I should have bought the WD one instead and paid the extra £20 for one that fit properly. Quote
