I shall give my own, personal, view of the piece, in the hope that at least some will be inspired to give the work a listen, and perhaps a vote as their favourite. All the pieces can be heard here...[/size] [size=4][url="http://basschat.co.uk/topic/250039-november-composition-challenge-voting/"]BC November Composition Challenge voting...[/url][/size] [size=4]... and the 'Play of the Day' here ...[/size] [size=4][url="http://soundcloud.com/dreaded-ted/a-little-bit-of-disco"]‘A Little Bit of Disco’, from Lord Sausage...[/url][/size] [size=4]Instantly recognisable from the trademark 'big beat', this clearly marks out its territory on the disco dance floor, the hand-clap is mandatory here. A suitably punchy bassline comes aboard, followed by a piano, with synth backing. The bass deepens. Now that the essentials have been established, in come the syncopated violins, and even a wah guitar. Early '80s, it seems. A very neat transition brings a flowing flute over a funky brass backing, a tonal modulation introduces a lead synth which will take us to the fade-out; tasty use of the pitch bend keeps us squarely in the genre to the very end.[/size] [size=4]A rich tapestry , giving us a taste of almost all the signature features; even a few voice-overs to keep the dancers on the ball. A certain virtuositye is displayed on many instruments; all blend well in an arrangement that keeps up the pace, sliding deftly from one focus of attention to another. We fall short of excess and remain within the realms of disco throughout. A well-formed, well-performed piece. Very nice, clean work.
