thebassist
I just bought a Marbass compressore and need to buy a UK power supply - I know it needs a 12v dc power supply but was wondering if anyone knows what the 2A, 3A and 6A stuff refers too? thebassist
Anyone know whether this power supply would work? http://www.amazon.co.uk/New-100-240V-Power-Supply-Adapter/dp/B00AY9RY3S
scoobystig
The A rating is the amount of power the power supply will supply So it will depend on the current load of the pedal, but 2A should be fine The most important thing with effects pedals is the polarity, ie whether the centre pin is positive or negative, this changes from pedal to pedal There should be a label on the pedal that's states it's requirements, if you're unsure take a picture of it and post it up
thebassist
Here we are... scoobystig
Yes you need 12v with at least 1.5a But you need negative centre pin same as the boss pedal power supplies, this is indicated by the small picture above the " made in China" The Link to the one on amazon doesn't say what it is, but normally they are positive centre pin I'll try and find one
scoobystig
http://www.maplin.co.uk/p/maplin-17w-switched-mode-acdc-multi-voltage-power-supply-l06br This one would seem to cover it, it gives you 1.7A at 12v and you can insert the tip either way round to get the negative tip Alternatively you could get the one you linked to, but you may need to cut the plug off and rejoin it with the cables the other way round
thebassist
Thanks a lot for your help... Christ I really should have looked into this before buying the damn pedal. I stupidly thought that they would come with EU/UK/US parts as standard.
mcnach
Yes you need 12v with at least 1.5a But you need negative centre pin same as the boss pedal power supplies, this is indicated by the small picture above the " made in China" The Link to the one on amazon doesn't say what it is, but normally they are positive centre pin I'll try and find one
I doubt the compressore actually *needs* 1.5A!!! The super booster pedal also indicated in the manual a supply of 12V and something crazy like that for the current, but it actually uses 60mA. (actually, the superbooster also works very well at 9V!) edit: a quick check reveals it needs 600mA (it's a valve compressor)... so anything above that and you'll be ok.
