skankdelvar Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Longtime Stones' collaborator and Keith Richards' 'best mate in the world' dropped off the twig today aged 70. Best known for the seminal sax solo in Brown Sugar, Keys also worked with Buddy Holly, Bobby Vee, Lennon, Clapton and many others. A true wild man and subject of many a rock and roll legend, Keys spent the last while battling cirrhosis. We shall not see his like again. lowdown Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Yep, real Rock & Roll legend. Someone somewhere said he was born in 1943 and never ever went to bed. RIP Quote
Ticktock Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Sad to hear this. Read his autobiography, a complete hoot !! Quote
Marvin Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Sad news. Ready the obit, I loved the term 'Jazzberries' he used. Quote
KevB Posted December 2, 2014 Posted December 2, 2014 Probably had enough interesting experiences to fill two lifetimes but RIP all the same. Quote
blue Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 (edited) I love Bobby Keys, what a loss. I was always just as excited to see him as any of the other Stones and their extended musical family. I can't think of a Stones show where I didn't nudge someone next to me and say; "I hope Bobby is with them tonight." Another huge player in Rock history gone and off to bigger things. RIP Blue Edited December 3, 2014 by blue Quote
chris_b Posted December 3, 2014 Posted December 3, 2014 I first noticed him with Joe Cocker and Mad Dogs and Englishmen. Sad loss. Quote
