b.split Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Do you have any information about the type of wood used? Sorry to pry
b.split Posted August 22, 2008 Posted August 22, 2008 Okay thanks anyway looks like a nice bass anyhow
walplayer Posted August 23, 2008 Author Posted August 23, 2008 I wish i'd asked Rich (out to play jazz) what the woods were when he was here the other day..i'd guess at the neck headstock being maple if that helps. Feel free to come an see it.
Okay thanks anyway looks like a nice bass anyhow
OutToPlayJazz Posted August 23, 2008 Posted August 23, 2008 The back, neck & sides look like maple & the top is definitely spruce. It's been refinished at some point (up to 40 years ago!), but the tone is very even & there is no maker's name in it. I'd say at a rough guess that it's a 1920's bass, German.
walplayer Posted August 24, 2008 Author Posted August 24, 2008 That's great info. Thanks Rich. It was great to meet you the other day too.
walplayer Posted August 29, 2008 Author Posted August 29, 2008 Last bump!!!!!! come on this is a genuine bargain!!!!!
