Colour of the cable...

I've been told the colour of the cable affects the high frequencies, something about wavelength & thermal capacitance, is this really true?

I go for coloured ones. Black ones usually get stolen so can be 'hot'.....

The green upvc molecules allow oxygen to enter the cable easier than the chemicals used in red coatings, the oxygen saturated cable then has a higher resistance than the red ones, black cables tend to allow more bass frequencies to pass which is ideal for dub or reggae.......only joking its bollocks

Are they all the same brand of cable and the same cross sectional area of core and identical shielding, all exactly the same length with identical connectors on both ends?

Are all of the cables you tested of the same specification? The colour of the outer sleeve should make no difference whatsoever - it is an insulator and plays no part in the electrical connection.

If it's the wires inside that are green, yes that would make a difference as it means the copper has got damp and oxidised.

It is 5 months too early for April fools.

However I have it on good info that bass sounds deeper on full moons, my guess is the graphs above were due to changes in the lunar cycle

The OP is 100% correct.

I use a black cable for my bass. Mrs. WoT uses a bright orange cable for her violin. At gigs, the violin has consistently clearer highs than the bass.

Presumably noone actually falls for these time honoured wind ups? I mean first time around would almost be forgivable, if you were victim of the guy who actually first thought of it, but not now surely... after they've been kicking around for decades?

The store man eventually took pity on one poor lad who was sent round to get a replacement bubble for a spirit level - disassembled a spare level and gave him the glass bulb to take back.
