The Admiral
I have a Korean Squier strat which I bought used in 1990 and I'm trying to date it. I think it's from either 1982 or 84, and as I'm thinking of moving it on, I'd like to be clear on the age. Any ideas on valuations would be helpful too - it's in fantastic nick! Cheers
Musky
I think the Korean Squiers only started in '88, so definitely not '82 or '84. There were only Japanese Squiers at that point. The Squier Wikipedia page has info on dating them from the serial.
Bassassin
+1 to what Musky says, can't be early 80s. IIRC the first MIKs were made by the Young-Chang factory from about '87, & are very good quality. There was controversy over Young-Chang launching their own Fenix brand (essentially rebranded Squiers) which led to them losing their contract with Fender & facing legal threats over the use of headstock shapes etc - so if it turns out yours is a Young-Chang then there's some collectability in that. FWIW I've owned a Y-C Squier Bullet, and currently own an early Fenix Strat & both were top quality. Jon.
Happy Jack
I don't think the Korean Squiers kissed on the first date ...
