bigd1
help needed I want to be able to play a keyboard (single notes) and trigger sounds via a foot controller. Will a Behringer FCB1010 do this, if not what will ? I thank you Ta very glad BIGd
jonsmith
Assuming you've already got the sounds on a synth or sampler, Roland PK5 pedals sound like what you need. I used to use them when I was doing the Rush stuff and I'm about to bring them back for my originals band. I'm triggering a Roland Fantom XR with them. HowieBass
I think the Behringer unit is more for controlling other devices that have MIDI interfaces where you could change presets/patches on them and not something you'd use when playing a bass line as you'd do with say a Moog Taurus. The Roland unit that jonsmith mentions is more like what you need though it needs to drive an external synthesizer for bass lines (and I think it's discontinued so you'd need to find a second-hand one). bigd1
Yes i do have a Korg Triton plus vst so sounds are not a problem. I am looking for a PK-5 but they seem to be a bit like rocking horse poo to track down. Thanks for your input. Although I think I have kind of worked out the B/ringer wouldn't do the job but I'm looking for other solutions.
Geddys nose
You'd be better off with the McMillan 12step pedals so small and light they will fit in your gig bag pocket with the zip open and are near indestrucktable. You can run them off a ipad or a rack synth and you can assign chords or samples with the PC program.
HowieBass
If you're really keen for a PK-5 like solution then Dawsons have a Roland PK-6 in stock but it's pricey http://www.dawsons.co.uk/roland-pk-6-pedal-keyboard?gclid=CLuz7ZLxxcICFeHHtAodaEcA5Q
odysseus
I'm in the market for the same thing. Looks like I'll be getting a McMillen 12 step - you can either trigger soft synths with it or buy the additional midi expander to trigger hard synths. Geddys nose
I've had about 3 PK5's over the years and they are a PITA to transport about, the Mcmillen's are the next step ( pun intended) in foot pedals IMO.
bigd1
Is the Mcmillen softstep the same idea, can you use it like a piano keyboard ?

Set up a favourite search in ebay and they will turn up. PK 6 on there. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Roland-PK-6-Midi-Bass-pedals-/231421721694?pt=UK_MusicalInstr_Keyboard_RL&hash=item35e1cf3c5e http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Roland-PK6-PK-6-Midi-Bass-Pedals-Brand-New-/221257778861?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_3&hash=item3383fdc6ad Edited December 14, 2014 by gelfin
gelfin
You could always bite the bullet and fork out for some of these.
