spongebob Posted December 16, 2014 Author Posted December 16, 2014 I've just ordered my Fender one! Quote
Bassman Steve Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 Got this for Christmas and was rather stunned to see my old bass featured (1953 bass no 0189) and they even have a picture of the provenance I got when I bought it from the Bass Centre - I am the Steve mentioned on the slip that JE signed. Grangur Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 I was looking at this with a view to buying it as a "general guide to fixing your bass". My view was it has a lot of repeating of the same stuff and most of the info is available on the net. But if you're into reading about Fender history it might be right up your street. Quote
Si600 Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014
Not all Haynes Manuals are usefull: http://www.amazon.co...p/dp/1844256626
I got my dad the Apollo 11 one. Not much use as a strip down and rebuild manual as most of the bits are on the moon at least the Titanic is closer Quote
Cat Burrito Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 I have it, just a nice book to have kicking around if you play P or J basses. Quote
JapanAxe Posted December 25, 2014 Posted December 25, 2014 I have the Les Paul and Strat manuals. Useful to a point, but as others have mentioned, tediously repetitive in parts. Quote
hollywoodrox Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 I have it, useful for set up info etc , I liked it enough to buy the strat one too Quote
Johnm93 Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014
Saw the Haynes Fender bass manual on Amazon. Quite pricey at £16, but looks quite informative for set up and repair. Might work for a learning novice like me? Anyone read or use the book?
S So, spongebob, you bought one yet...? Or did one appear under the tree...? Quote
dougieb Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Yip, great book for repairs, set ups etc. I got mine for less the £10 on Fleabay, worth looking around for a copy. Quote
spongebob Posted December 28, 2014 Author Posted December 28, 2014
S So, spongebob, you bought one yet...? Or did one appear under the tree...?
I did John! Bought it my myself from Amazon. Really like it - full of great info. Loads of models, even some artist stuff to for general reading. I'm not technical at all - literally at all - but with what I've got in there, I'm able to sort out basic set-ups at home myself. Thanks to all who gave the positive responses - I can add to those now! Great read. Quote
Bottle Posted December 28, 2014 Posted December 28, 2014 Yes I got it for Chrimbo a couple of years ago - good for a general read but as I don't own a genuwine Fender, not much practical use aside from the general tips for setting a bass up (which I could do before anyway) Good read for the history of the instrument though Ian Quote
tauzero Posted December 29, 2014 Posted December 29, 2014 I have the far more useful USS Enterprise one. Quote
Dr.Dave Posted January 2, 2015 Posted January 2, 2015 I've got the Tiger Tank one which is obviously very useful - you can get the Fender Bass one for £14.05 on the bay but as the owner of an Amazon voucher I got for Crimbo I think I'll get one from there. Quote
pfretrock Posted January 28, 2015 Posted January 28, 2015 Who ate all the pies? What a bummer, I don't eat pork or drink beer, but may be useful to others.... http://www.amazon.co...s/dp/0857332872 Quote
