Drax Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 It’s finally here. Kissed a lot of frogs to find this one. As foretold:
1) Much of the stuff out there is appalling

2) You never quite end up with what you set out for

3) All roads lead to Andy Baxter
Never owned a maple fingerboard before and never thought I would. But this is a bass to play, not hang on a wall, and this plays like a dream. Super thin quick neck (thinner than my American Std), fantastic variety of sound, real depth and resonance. Big thank you to the fellow BC’ers who helped guide me home on this one. Collected at lunch today and so keen to get involved, had a half hour headphone amp jam in the disabled toilet. 1972 Jazz, Maple / Sunburst, pearl blocks & bound, 4 bolt neck. 8.8lbs. Apart from the nut, all completely original. For the next few months at least - 'all the bass I'll ever need' And here we are on our first date Quote
Mattmit Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 sh*t me! thats quite the business isnt it!!!! Quote

Which is unsurprising, really. Very nice bass though - I love maple necks, me. Enjoy. Quote
HowieBass Posted December 15, 2014 Posted December 15, 2014 Looks great and very nicely aged. Happy new/old bass day! Quote

Raslee Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 Gorgeous, and a lot lighter than my 74 too - Enjoy Quote
allighatt0r Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 That's sexy! Really nice genuine wear. This is a how a real 'relic' looks. And it's awesome. Quote

Simon. Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 In the words of The Trammps: Zing go the strings of my heart! That is a lovely, lovely looking bass. Well done. Quote

brensabre79 Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Beautiful bass, and just perfectly highlights the difference between a relic job and the real thing IMO Maple + white blocks and binding is the best. Quote
cocco Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 That's a beautiful instrument. Congrats Quote
thebassist Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Wow... a stunning Jazz... And 8.8lbs is crazy light for a 70s Fender. Enjoy. Quote
