Cases... what's your thoughts?

Alright gents (and ladies), I'm doing some shopping, and thought I'd canvas your expert opinions!!

I've recently acquired Mr Cougar's gorgeous Sandberg JM4, and can't bring myself to cart around something so tasty in a gig bag. Anyone got a favourite choice of hardcase? It's just occured to me that I've never gone shopping for one, as I've always just used the ones that came with my 'rays!!

Nosing around on Thomann, their Harley Benton flightcases look to be [i]exactly[/i] the same as the Warwick Rockcases, just a tenner or so cheaper! Anyone had any experience with these?

SkB make cracking cases, I think they make Musicman and Fender cases? could be wrong.

Also I have a lovely Hiscox case, very sturdy and used by a few people on here, and the choice of John Shuker and Status I believe.

I have one of each and they are as tough as Grant Mitchell and last for years. The teardrop has more room for straps and things but is longer (and so may not fit your transport device)

anyone know if Peli make cases for guitars? bloody indestructable, light and water proof- we use them a lot in work for our cameras and kit

They do Stu - I asked about them here a while ago as some chap has one for his Thumb bass. They were about £100 from the states.

I am using a Warwick semi-hardcase for my basses.. very light and extremely tough. Kind of a trade off between the two types. I picked off the exteriour pocket that liked to get caught as I slide them in and out of the car and they seem very nice. £30 from thomann

Yep, I have a Pelican and I love it. Totally indestructable. Heavy but its got wheels and is lighter than mdf cases.

I’ve never really liked the Gator ones. I’ve owned one from new and it’s been pretty shoddy – it doesn’t fit any of my Warwicks that well and the lining is starting to fall out so every time I open it I get tiny white polystyrene balls all over the house. However, I recently acquired a SSI that came with a TGI hard case and although they look pretty similar to the Gator cases, they’re much better and cheaper

An alternative to that would be the £40 Warwick cases – great value for money and a lot lighter/smaller than the Gator cases, although possibly not as rugged.

Really, for the difference in price between the two, I'd def go for the Hiscox. Aside from strength, the other reason is the weight. They're not called LiteFlite cases for nothing!

I rate the hiscox so well that i bought two of each from Dolphin last week
Superfast delivery really great to deal with.
Prefer the shaped ones and they're cheaper and the smaller size does matter

Not exactly light and only really necessary if you are gonna have roadies and baggage handlers chucking them around.

Depends on what you want, they can make all sorts.
