Highfox
(yes I had some freetime today) Four sightly different basses straight into the PC.. Three of them wide open and one with some treble cut, how I'd normally use them at practice etc. Forgive the sloppiness and for anybody who listens I promise I don't slap in public lol. If you want to play, can you tell what's what? https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/90499974/Bass%20mix/1.mp3 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/90499974/Bass%20mix/2.mp3 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/90499974/Bass%20mix/3.mp3 https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/90499974/Bass%20mix/4.mp3
Lozz196
Well I`d put 1 as a Precision, and 4 as either a Jazz or a Stingray, with 3 being the treble-cutted bass.

Lozz196
Hmm, something with humbuckers perhaps Don?
Rodders
My guess is: 1. Precision 2. Stingray 3. Treble cut 4. Jazz

Highfox
Well done, your both right. Number 3 was also a P but with flats.
Lozz196
2. was Stingray - am amazed, much fatter sounding than I`d expect. Still, did guess a humbucker so nearly there.......
Cameronj279
Pretty cool idea. Would be good to do something similar but with slightly less obvious but still distinct sounding basses (say brands like Warwicks, Spectors etc).
paul_5
I got them, but 2 and 3 had me thinking for a bit... Now I need a sit down.
Highfox
Yes ,you were right Lozz with the humbucks Maybe the Ray sounds larger as it's active/pre-amped already and the rest had no kind of DI boost or anything, tho the Stingray always sounds huge to me isolated with the drums like that, just one of the reasons I have to have one. I think the P with the flats has very low out-put from it's pick-ups, they are 45 years old.. I'm thinking of sticking some of the new F custom shops in there and keeping the old's original. Cameron thanks, it'd be nice if someone had the time to do more bass comparisons, I'd definitely give it a listen.
