lawetlatla Posted December 16, 2014 Posted December 16, 2014 (edited) (I should have done this earlier, but I can't write these things) My name's Cordelia & I've been playing bass guitar for a few years now, but I'm also looking to take up double bass. I'm still at school so there's loads for me to learn yet, but I'm confident at the level I am at the moment. I mainly, & love to, play funk, but I'm open to many genres (especially the challenging stuff) so I try to play in as many groups as possible. Some of my bass inspirations include Bootsy Collins, Jaco Pastorius, Bernard Edwards, & James Jamerson. Music's pretty much what my life's centered on at the moment; I'm planning on going to a music uni after school, & I'm determined to make a career out of bass playing. At the moment I only own a crappy ESP but soon I'm getting a Fender Jazz or a Stingray (still haven't decided on which), & I intend on getting a decent amp when I have the money. Allie Posted December 17, 2014 Posted December 17, 2014 Hi Cordelia I'm sure you'll be able to make it all happen for yourself, sooner or later - Welcome to the BC Forum and enjoy your stay. Allie Quote
Marc S Posted December 18, 2014 Posted December 18, 2014 Hi Coredelia, Welcome to the site I started off (many years ago) with a really awful bass But the key is, to persist with it, and get something better as soon as you can Save every penny you possibly can, and get yourself a decent bass My favourite is my roadworn Fender Jazz - it's absolutely awesome I've owned more expensive basses, but this is the best IMHO You could always start your venture into the world of Double bass, with a cheap Electric Upright (EUB) That's what I did, and have never looked back Anyhow, enjoy your playing, and its nice to hear you're so keen on music It is indeed, part of the very fabric of life!
