Coilte Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014
And one of my favourite back in the day shows.....
Yeah, I loved that show. That's the first time I've heard the theme in it's entirety. Great theme and nice bass playing. I always thought that Carol Kaye played on a lot of those USA police series. Certainly does not sound like her in this one. Anyone have any ideas who the bassist is ? Quote

lowdown Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 I thought it was Carol Kaye as well. Although I do seem to remember reading that the theme tune was re recorded two or three times over the seasons (not sure how many there were). So maybe the OP version is one of those. I am sure someone will be along who knows. I love all those American TV themes from the 70's, apart from great playing all round, the writing and arranging is terrific. Quote
Noah Deere Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 That's great, takes me back a bit as well. Quote
Hobbayne Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 I believe she played on the theme for the Vietnam based black comedy M*A*S*H which actually got to number one and was subsequently covered by the Manic Street Preachers. Quote

BetaFunk Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 Don't worry kids cos the Kojak theme ain't all that anyway. On the other hand this is synth soaked cheeseville USA....... http://youtu.be/PzAJ5P97MsA Quote
lowdown Posted December 19, 2014 Posted December 19, 2014 (edited) The original (the busy Bass version). http://youtu.be/G9qA0MzbHXU And another Theme opening (or one of them....lol...). http://youtu.be/k8wz5ElZZj0 "The somewhat better-known first Kojak theme, in two distinct arrangements is the work of Billy Goldenberg, who scored the early episodes. John Cacavas composed the third main title theme used throughout the show's fifth and final season. In addition, Cacavas composed the music score for most of the series". HowieBass Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 Whoever it is playing on whichever version, sounds well tasty. I watched the show but wouldn't have been able to identify the theme tune. BTW are we thinking flats on a P played with a pick? Quote
