Hmmm, I feel slightly overwhelmed by the quality of [Status] porn on here. Nevertheless, here's my own beautiful instrument, owned since new, made of wood, smells like wood, feels like wood, gives me.... thrills!

Classic Status sound, looks, etc.

It's a 1994 Energy V, ash body, maple neck, rosewood f'board, 1 x steel + twin graphite truss rods:

Thanks, BassBus, I will say it's done me proud over the years. Never goes out of tune (probably due to graphite truss rods) but has the warm sound of wood.

I've never played a full graphite bass, but reading reviews/comments I get the impression they're very 'clinical' in tone. I'm not sure my rather untidy technique would suit it - finger style with occasional pick (I can't slap: tried, failed).

Mine aren't 100% status, but can I still play?

My Squier VM Precision with a few mods. Well, I say a few, the only thing that's still original is the body and finish.

Along with that I've got my Sterling ball SUB project that started completely stock and black. Now the only original part of it is the neck plate, bridge, battery box and body.

Oh my! That is very pretty. I don't usually go for heads on Status basses but that one looks lovely with the gold tuners. Any idea when the bass was built?
[/quote]

It is indeed a very good looking bass! To be honest I don't know anything about this bass, except the fact it sounds amazing. I know it must be a bit old because the gold hardware faded a bit in some points.
I am considering dropping an email to Status and ask them a few bits about it. I really would like to know some more things about the electronics. It active, but I am not sure if the single battery is for the pickups, or if it has an active preamp. It seems like it is just a volume, balance and tone, but the tone pot has a centre notch to it, and I've never came across anything like that in a passive electronics. Also, this bass has the hottest output out of anything I had before, if I turn the volume pot all the way up, then my little markbass combo is shaking my whole room even with the lowest volume setting.

The circuit has volume, blend and active treble cut/boost. The battery is for the circuit not the pickups. The circuit is more than likely the board 100. Details in the link below on the Status site. Go to 'online shop' then 'active circuits' and you'll find details of board 100 at the top of the page.
