BassBus
And Fat Rich might be along shortly. He has just done a comparison of the Stealth with other Statii. He liked it so much he ordered one. Certainly go to Statii.com and have a look through the Show your Basses threads. Lots of gorgeous examples there.
Mark Dixon
Please educate me on Statii as I'm possibly thinking about looking or ordering one, but they're extremely rare to find in the States.
As a Wal owner who has also bought two Status basses, the first thing you should know is the tone is very different to that of your Wals - so I assume you are looking for something which is not a Wal sound? mikeswals
Yes Mark, something very different. I just looked around at statii.com, and the Stealth being described as very hi-fi. Sounds like I know what I'll be after in the near future.
Fat Rich
And Fat Rich might be along shortly. He has just done a comparison of the Stealth with other Statii. He liked it so much he ordered one. Certainly go to Statii.com and have a look through the Show your Basses threads. Lots of gorgeous examples there.
Here's what I wrote on the Statii forum: OK I've tried a couple of Stealths and directly compared them to my favourite S2. I need to clarify that my S2 is an alder body with graphite skin like the Chris Wolstenholme bass, but with standard pickup placement and electrics. I also chose a one piece bridge which I think results in tighter more focussed tone generally than an S2 with monorails. First thing that struck me about the Stealth is that it's nice and lightweight and resonates really well, my graphite S2 is also pretty light but doesn't feel quite as alive acoustically as the Stealth. The tone of the Stealth is a bit rounder (partly because of the monorail bridge) and has a clarity that you just can't get from a wooden body, I was worried it might sound a bit bland but it has a nice musical quality to it I liked. Both basses felt identical to play and balance perfectly, however the curved top on the Stealth proved to be a bit more comfortable where I rest my arm than the S2. I didn't get to try the standard Stealth preamp, both had the 300 series board you find in the S2 which I find is really useful with three slightly different sounds at the flick of a switch, combined with bass, treble, mid sweep and pickup blend. It's difficult to say which is better, they both sound great. I think the tone is a little more complex on the S2, plus different wood combinations have a slight effect on the sound (and the weight) of the bass. But I liked the Stealth enough that I um, sort of placed an order So that's probably not going to help you make a decision, but with so much scope with the EQs on these basses I don't think you'll won't go far wrong with either of them

TheGreek
Just bought this from Reds42 (Nick) - I could see the tear in the corner of his eye as I left with the bass - absolutely beautiful example of this bass - could even consider it a work of art - would look great hanging on a wall but as we all know Statii are far more than that... Please try to keep the drooling to a minimum. Edited October 5, 2017 by TheGreek

loushort
Looking at the red tint SII, it must've been a very close serial number to my old #402 as it even has the little red led for the active on/off switch and the same hardware. Must have been a 1988 build or somewhere around there. Aha! A couple of Nick's pics escaped, as the bass looked so much like one of mine in the photobucket thumbnails! Here's the SII with ebony board... There, my work here is done!
That was mine many years ago

steve-bbb
ok so after all the lovely shiney on this thread, here's a dull old dog # 844 is a veritable hussy of a bass - i believe it has seen even more basschatters than the infamous R*******CKER thread i just bought it from cosmo who i think got it from cocco and heaven knows how many other basschatters before - please feel free to divulge and i will record its dirty past on the inside of the control panel plate like a tramp stamp the original bridge will be going back on eventually once i get some black springs for it and set it up am so tempted to have it lacquered up at status with the transluscent metallic charcoal-black hi gloss

It's all locked down with the allen grub screws in the side of the bridge:
