JJTee Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 This gets my vote (closely followed by Slade's Merry Xmas Everybody), absolutely nailed here: Quote
Graham Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 I forget who recorded the bass for Christmas Wrapping, but I do remember she was a student of Marcus Miller, which I think you can really hear in her playing. Quote
Subbeh Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 (edited) There was a thread not long ago where toneknob kindly linked to some information on the player and the tab/notation: http://basschat.co.u...otation-please/ 'tis a great line to be sure Edited December 20, 2014 by Subbeh Quote

Leonard Smalls Posted December 20, 2014 Posted December 20, 2014 It's definitely Bootsy, from the best Christmas album "Christmas is 4 Ever"... 2'24 is where it gets real funky. Quote

The fasting showman Posted December 21, 2014 Posted December 21, 2014 I love everything mentioned but I'll add another favourite 'Things fall apart' by Cristina, Don Was on bass I believe. Quote
notable9 Posted December 22, 2014 Posted December 22, 2014
Dee Murray's on 'Step Into Christmas' wins for me.
+1 Fab tune and great bass work. Hardly a great bass line per se but I love the steady bass groove on that Mariya Carey christmas tune. Reckon it's the most even set of repetitive quarter notes on anything. Quote
Big_Stu Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 The bass is a stroll - and the whole thing is kinda knocked together like any band could - but I've often wondered why this isn't more popular annually as a pub rabble-rouser? Gotta say though, that bassline by The Waitresses is a cracker. Quote
