Hellrazor Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 ....and came back with this! I was fiddling around with the basses in Sounds Live in Newcastle, mainly to have a go on one of those 70's Classic Jazz Basses (pretty nice actually) when I spotted this fella hanging on the wall. 2008 Jazz Bass in Olympic white with a tortioseshell scratchplate and maple neck. Got it down for a twiddle and just HAD to have it. It's far and away the nicest Jazz I've played. Just a tweak on the truss rod and a slight lowering of the action was needed and Bob most certainly was my uncle. Quote
Rodders Posted August 7, 2008 Posted August 7, 2008 Very Nice How much did it set you back? Rodders Quote

Tee Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 What happens when you go out for a pint of milk? Quote

Rodders
799 - Could've got one for less on t'internet but I do like to have a good old rummage if I'm spending that much, don't like to take pot luck, I want the best one in the shop! It wasn't really an impulse buy to be honest, I was intending to get a 70's classic but this fella was soooo much nicer and only 200 and odd quid more with that indestructible case they come with. I'm well happy - it sounds fab and plays really well. If this is typical of what Fender are knocking out these days then good on 'em! Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Reminds me of the time I went up to town to buy a bass & came home with nothing but six new pairs of socks. Quote
BigRedX Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 If I went shopping for clothes and came back with a bass instead I'd have probably saved money... Quote
OutToPlayJazz Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Hey Hellrazor Welcome to the '08 American Standard club, LOL! Glad you like it. If I had enough spare spondoolies at the moment, I'd have the jazz to go with my precision! Your jazz looks stunning Quote
lozbass Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 (edited) That looks gorgeous...I'm just popping out for a couple of tee shirts love... Edited August 9, 2008 by lozbass Quote
paul h Posted August 9, 2008 Posted August 9, 2008 I went clothes shopping the other day. I got a pair of jeans. Quote
aceuggy Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 (edited) In some ways I'm relieved there isn't a good music shop near me. I just know I couldn't walk into one and come away empty handed! Edited August 10, 2008 by aceuggy Quote
Jean-Luc Pickguard Posted August 10, 2008 Posted August 10, 2008 Luckily my local music shop only has seems to have cheapie beginner basses. I can never get out without buying the kids some new pleckies for their geetars though. Quote
OutToPlayJazz Posted August 11, 2008 Posted August 11, 2008 I did go clothes shopping (on't t'internet) & bought this... But I know what you're saying about Music Shops... I spend a lot of time in Electro in Doncaster & at times it's a real candy store! It's a real excercise in self control to leave empty handed. But this coming week I'm going to the ultimate candy store... The Status-Graphite factory in Colchester *Leaves money & credit cards firmly at home!!!* Quote
