General Drum machine info

I'm looking for basic information such on what pattern to use for what song.
ie to get an appropriate drum rack for say 'In The Midnight Hour'.
I've got a borrowed DR3 and it's quite a bit cleverer than me.

Where would I go to find info like how many BPM of a song and what style of drum accompaniment would fit?
And more specifically, given my beginner status, what question should I actually be asking into google to find out what I need?
Currently my searches don't seem to yield the right answers.

I tried it for this very song.

1) see if someone published drum tab for it. (yes, there is such a thing)

2) if not, listen for the bass drum, then approximate where it falls in relation to the beat,.
3) add the snare and hi-hat in same way

regarding bpm, a lot of tabs will give a general idea but wyhen you can count the beats, do so for ten seconds, then multiply by six.

Another thing you can do is download a MIDI file and record the drum track (normally MIDI channel 10) into your drum machine.

Modern drum machines normally have a "tap tempo" feature that allows you to tap along in time with a song to determine its tempo. Check the manual for your machine to see if it has it.

If I heard the song right on YouTube (it was on my phone speaker so hard to hear the bass drum), then it's bass drum on steps 1, 9 and 11 with snare on 5 and 13. Each step is a sixteenth note in a one bar 4/4 pattern. Snares on 1, 5, 9 and 13 for the bridge. Very simple!
