Tracer Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I've just moved so I'm currently bandless, but the old band I was with would put in a three hour practice once a week (including setup time) and then maybe the odd hour-long impromptu acoustic bash. I found those the most useful, to be honest. Forces you to tighten your playing up when you're not hiding behind a wall of noise : ) Quote
coasterbass Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Once a week, 7.30 til 11pm at the glorious Scream studios in Croydon. Suits me fine as we all have day jobs. Quote
Oscar South Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 I don't get the 'not rehearsing = cool' idealology. Granted you may not need the rehearsal but I'd much rather play music with friends than just practice alone or waste time doing 'nothing'. Quote
cheddatom Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 We used to practice twice a week as a rule, for at least an hour, more often 2 hours. In the run up to gigs, especially important ones, we would practice for 1 hour every day. I think it made us extremely tight. Quote
leonshelley01 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 Couple of hours a week with one band, not currently gigging, so more for a laugh/socialising, justifying owning loads of gear and learning material than anything else. Three hours a week with the other band, now gigging and starting to write our own material, so a bit more intensive. I try to break it up a bit with cigarette breaks however! Quote
ajones164 Posted August 8, 2008 Posted August 8, 2008 We used to do a 2hr practise every other week, but it started to become detrimental to the actual gigs. So long as we all know our bits, it makes the gigs more enjoyable if we haven't played together for a while - and the more we enjoy playing it, the more enjoyable to listen to - I assume. Its good to be tight, but its also good to keep things fresh. Quote
