billfaro
Evening all. I know you are not that keen on Tabs. But as someone brand new to Bass or any Guitar playing, I find them quite handy. Do you think these Tabs are correct. When i play them they do not seem right. Even for me it seems a fairly easy song to play along to. As it mostly the same all the way through. What do you think. Ending G-------------------------| D-------------------------| A-7-7-7-7-7-7-------------| x 2 E-------------7-7-7-7-7-7-| G-------------------------| D-------------------------| A-7-7-7-7-7-7--7-7-7-7----| E-------------------------| Cheers. deanoet
Cant help you directly with that song But I tend to listen / watch some bass covers / lessons on youtube and see how they do it See how it sounds when they play it
toneknob
The tab looks fine to me, although there are a few variations throughout as you mention. What sounds wrong when you play it? Along with not showing rhythm, it's standard form that they will be occassionally wrong, so they're at best a guide to get you started. Tab sites are the worst. Even published tab books are only created by someone sat down trying their best to decipher what is played, there's no more science than that most of the time. Marvin
The tab looks to give the right line for the song...there are little variations and passing notes on occasion but the tab is the gist of it.

Stuart Clayton and his Bassline Publishing books are bang on though, others can be very poor in comparison. Dad3353
Here's a version I prefer, done using Guitar Pro. It's good for tabs and/or notation. It's a pdf, to be downloaded as 'Dance The Night Away.pdf'... [attachment=179152:Mavericks_Danc_The_Nigh_Away.pdf] Hope this helps.
Urban Bassman
For me they usually are a good place to start. More often than not there are mistakes and quite often only the main bits of a song are tabbed. So as long as you have this in mind and be prepared to work out some of it for yourself they are OK and can save you a bit of time.

Grangur
...then for a short break from playing TABs; here's an art course: Joking aside; TABs are ok, but they lack some of the key info. Welcome and good luck in your playing
stingrayPete1977
You don't need the key info for tabs.....I'll get my coat.

Similarly, tabs are useful to many. Not much harm done, methinks..?
JTUK
I think you're overthinking a track like this.. It's a major triad pattern across the two chords... and you could easy just play them as qtr notes only.. Without a drummer, it will sound ok, but within a band it should swing along quite well..and you don't need to bother about anything else. IMO. PaulWarning
maybe I'm teaching my Granny to suck eggs, but the best way I've found of checking if a tab correct is to use audacity to move the song up an octave or even 2 octaves certainly makes the bass line stand out and you can slow it down, I've found it invaluable
