Bass_Guardian Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Might need a bit more detail to attract a potential buyer... Location? Will you deliver? More information about the bass? Any more pics?
Cosmo Valdemar Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 If that bass is in Crystal Palace, I am currently sitting a mere ten minutes away...
CamdenRob Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 This is very unusual... must be a very early mk1 custom as it still has a PB serial number, looks like a solid shedua body too?

White Cloud Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 Its arguably true...if Carlsberg made basses they would look like that one! Mine had a Schedua top just like that...it was a beast. GLWTS.
Francesco Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 You don't see these much. Very nice. What makes it so special? Does it have custom made electronics?
kulit17 Posted December 23, 2014 Posted December 23, 2014 never seen a Wal with a solid shedua body..very unique indeed!! i gotta ask the question - how much she weigh??
Petezzz Posted December 23, 2014 Author Posted December 23, 2014 (edited) To answer your question Francesco: All the Wal basses had a flat fretboard which I didn't like so I asked Wal to make the fretboard slightly curved like a Fender. He did a great job and I found it much more intuitive and comfortable to play. Edited December 24, 2014 by Petezzz

In any case, a solid shedua body is pretty special, stunning instrument!

Solid shedua body is really unusual though. The real hen's teeth Wal I want to see though is one with a P-bass body profile. It was a no-cost option when I ordered mine in '83 and I thought about it at the time. Kind of wish I'd done it now. I've never seen one in the flesh. P
Francesco Posted December 24, 2014 Posted December 24, 2014 My Wals have 12" as well. I do remember seeing a Wal with a solid shedua body somewhere on the internet.
Petezzz Posted December 26, 2014 Author Posted December 26, 2014 (edited) OK maybe I am mistaken that they all had flat fretboards - anyway I wanted mine a bit more curved. I remember being amazed at Wal's craftsmanship like - how did you do that?! And I definitely found the end result smoother to play. thanks Pete Edited December 26, 2014 by Petezzz

If it was a custom change, maybe it will be written on the inside of the control plate if you don't know it?

The curve feels similar to my Fender basses but anyone who's interested best thing to do is simply come and try it ! Edited December 26, 2014 by Petezzz
Francesco Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 A time ago BassDirect had a similar Wal bass for sale. It had a cavityplate with copper foil. Is that also with your Wal?
Bronner Posted February 5, 2015 Posted February 5, 2015 Wal. By far the best fretless tone I have ever heard from an electric bass. Nothing else even came close.
