I've been driving one of these for a couple of years now and can carry an absolutely ridiculous amount of kit if I need to.

We have a Kia Carens 2.0 CRDI & I can't fault it,we have owned if for five years without any problems at all.
fairly cheap to buy,good fuel economy & a cavernous boot area.
we like it that much we are currently in the process of buying a newer one.

I've got a Kia Ceed Estate (current model Ceed with the dog bone grill)

The bass fits in it's soft case with the single back seat up and enough elbow room to change gear (unlike the Ibiza estate that proceeded it)

Living in the USA, I drove a Chevrolet Aveo for years and could fit the double bass in a gig bag, amplifier, accessories, stands, etc., all in. The European version was called the Daewoo Kalos. Very efficient interior space for the small size. I would fold the rear seat down, put the bass in from the rear hatch on the driver side, direct the neck between the front bucket seats to the passenger side of the gear shift, and go. I don't know what the current version is called.

I think we have dropped Daewoo here and just adopted the Chevrolet name instead? Quite rare cars here though.
