Liked. In at no 80.
Mods, is it possible for us to have a pinned post where any of us could officially [s]beg[/s] ask our peers for likes?

I'd love to get our two bands some more likes (as much as anything so the drummer stops bloody pestering me  ) but I just thought it was perhaps bordering on associate/small business kinda thing?
Cheers,
Karl.

Just out of interest... What are you hoping to achieve by getting likes from people just for the sake of it?

(genuine question - not sarcasm!)
Less nagging from the drummer as he appears to think likes = fame  (keyword there is drummer).

EDIT. What could possibly go wrong

Done

Here is our page if you would like to return the favour https://www.facebook.com/alterchaos?ref=ts&fref=ts

As we are pretty local to each other maybe we could hook up in the summer for some dates, there is a few of us bands looking to stage some small multi band festivals in Bristol next year

At the moment if you internet search the band "The Angry Badger" you get Soundcloud, gigs etc that come up but the Facebook page is way down the searches. It should make our FB page more visible (hope so anyway).

Do you have a Twitter account and a YouTube channel

Google loves Twitter, it's easy to then link the Twitter account to your facebook so that any postings on facebook are automatically tweeted and vice versa
That's what I have done, I have however not enable SEO on our website so it doesn't register in searche yets, but I am laying the foundations ready

It's also yet another social media website to try and build a following on, we are going to have a friend in the audience of next gig just taking photos and tweeting them constantly throughout the night
These automatically just get shared with the Facebook page

Hi, no Band Web Page or Twitter. At the moment we're on Facebook, Ents24 and Reverbnation, which I try and keep active and up to date. That is probably enough to cope with at the moment. Thanks for the suggestion I'll look into it during the holidays-never even read a tweet myself. I'm pretty useless with social media and it seems to take me ages to do anything

I find Ents24 the easiest to work with

In the mean time more keep the Facebook band page likes coming please were "Alternative psychedelic post-progressive rock": https://www.facebook...TheAngryBadgers

Still 19 to go....

I guess it depends what you mean by internet search, but when I type site:facebook.com "The Angry Badgers" into Google, you're the first hit.

I don't have an arsebook account so I can't like you, sorry.

Our band page, regularly see's 'views' in the hundreds, and can increase with shares from member's personal page however I doubt many of those actually 'see' it.

Also since they introduced a review system for posts, for people to say they don't like content that looks like adds/spam/etc, views on posts with links are in the toilet. So I do see it as a big of a chore these days, we get more people at shows by talking to them personally. Our page has just become a booking platform.
However I would guest hat 5 percent of our audience interact and come to our shows because of band page, but the key is obviously interacting, not even goes through facebook liking any old crap as it shows up on their page and they don't necessarily want it on there.

Sorry. I can't see anywhere that it says you'll have to pay.
it dfoesnt actively say but if you run a group page you will have already noticed for some time now that you cannot promote news feeds 'fully' without paying to 'reach a wider audience'

there was a time having a band page was quite handy to promote gigs to all you followers/likers but now they are increasingly restricting that ability - the inevitable conclusion will be that such services will eventually be 'premium' account holders only

Personally I invite people to gigs that are local to them. Although we only have a small FB following.

I will start to like things that one of the local bands puts up following advice in that link. FB knows what you like and will give you more posts on that basis. I've missed loads of their gigs because FB knows I liked their page but haven't interacted with them otherwise for three years. So I suppose it's down to the bands to send personal invites rather than rely on FB to decide who might be interested.

So, is there a thread where we can post FB links to 'like' each others band pages?
Nice idea, I like it and will maybe set one up so that other can benefit

FB events for every gig.. surely everyone does that..??

But once you have people at gigs, you should try and get out and talk to them
and that can eventually do well for you. Bands had followings before FB so it is not
the be-all and end-all, but it is a useful tool along with others....??

I agree entirely, I was having a whinge about FB privacy issues initially and some kind Basschatters started liking the Angry Badgers page.

I think FB's use is limited. We're a new band and have already found that the people that come along to gigs (we have only played 3 do far :) } have heard of them through word of mouth rather than FB. If the band keeps at it it will become irrelevant.

As an originals band and at this stage in our development it is worth giving FB some attention Promoters/venue owners give it the once over when we're looking for gigs and the question "how many likes do you have on facebook" also appears during some festival application processes.

In the medium/long term it will be no more than a basic information source and a sign post to other information

Nice one, cheers. Unfortunately, as tedious as collecting 'likes' is, it does seem to make a difference to promoters, agents, managers, landlords et all. Therr are quite a few of us here, we could help each other out.

We do. We also put them on our proper website. TBH, I think any band with just a Facebook page isn't taking the interwebs side of things seriously. Maybe I'm just being snobbish about it, but I can't control the design of the band's FB page. I see Facebook in the same light as Myspace before it and whatever will come after it, which may well be sooner rather than later as people get pissed off with FB's attitude. For the time being, I see FB as a somewhat useful evil, and regrettably people expect you to have an FB page so that's what you need to do.

Incidentally, angrybadgers.co.uk has gone but theangrybadgers.co.uk is available...

if you delete you personnel FB page you can't be admin to your own band page (as our drummer has done) 95% of FB post are of no interest to me, but it is a good tool for promoting gigs etc, whenever we get a new like I send out a friends request so I can invite them gigs personally, by doing that they get an email telling them about it, that way you're not relying on FB to post it to your 'likes'.
FB is designed to pander to the human need for acceptance by others, hence the like button, unless it's band related I don't post or like anything on FB
