There's one for sale on this very forum...

I've no connection with the seller; just passing the word.

I've used TASCAM and Focusrite products and would recommend either brand.

If you're thinking of buying a Focusrite 2i2, also have a look at the 2i4. It's about £50 more expensive but it has more output options (e.g. for connecting monitors) and a Phantom power switch for use with certain microphones. I personally think it's worth the extra money - which is why I bought one myself :)

I've found the Focusrite ISA one with digital card to be fantastic sounding and versatile. It accepts a mike and line/ direct input and you send it to your system via S/pdif on two separate channels. Highly recommended. http://us.focusrite.com/mic-pres/isa-one

Although you don't specify a budget or whether you use a PC or Mac, the Focusrite 2i4 is great or if your budget stretches to it the Roland Quad capture:

I've got the 2i4.

Not sure it's worth more to you - I got it for the MIDI channels as well as the extra blend knob (the monitoring on the 2i4 is on/off, there's a input-playback control to balance in & out on the 2i4).

The unit works with very little noise in the headphone preamp (only noticeable at the extreme end, common on all fairly budget (& some expensive) preamps).

Excellent though it is, this would still need an interface to get the signal into the PC.
Just sayin'.

Thanks troops, I see Focusrite do a package (Scarlett 2i2, mic, phones, etc) worth a go ?

Could be - but I'd look at what cans I was getting - A condenser mic is hard to get wrong, but a set of headphones is a very different matter.
If you are willing to take the risk, or have heard good things about them, why not?

Focusrite plays well with Linux for those of inclined that way :) I am also well impressed with the Hi Z direct in recording quality, but then again I am only just starting this game.

The 2i2 also has the 48v/phantom power. The only difference is the output options. Some people might not feel the RCA and Jack outputs are worth the extra £50 if youre only ever using headphones or one set of monitors, as you still have a left/right RCA output for one set of monitors on the 2i2 :-)

A very rough straight run through ( a bit of a shambles in places, but just checking to see if it all fits), i used a little Behringer thingy with Audacity.
I'm new to this, but I think with some better gear, could give me better options.
