PianoFights Posted December 27, 2014 Posted December 27, 2014 Hi everyone, I play in a band called Waking Aida. We released our debut album, Eschaton, earlier this year. Hope you guys like it! Truckstop Posted February 19, 2015 Posted February 19, 2015 Late to the party! Really enjoyed this, kind of like a more energetic Yndi Halda and a cleaner Mogwai. Really like it! Quote
IIIPatrickStevensIII Posted February 20, 2015 Posted February 20, 2015 sounds beautiful, I absolutely love "how to build a space station"! the recording sounds really crisp and well produced. amazing job! Quote
PianoFights Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 Thanks for the kind words everyone. In the studio again right now; second album is gestating! Quote
wateroftyne Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Meh, not really my thing... ...so I'm surprised at how much I'm enjoying it. 10/10 for the production / mix, too. Lovely. Quote
PianoFights Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 Production is all thanks to Jamie Ward... and will be again for album No. 2. He's so incredibly thorough, and every bit as passionate about making a brilliant sounding album as we are. Another great example of his production work would be his own band's most recent album; Jamie plays bass in Maybeshewill, and produced their album Fair Youth which was released last year. If anyone's looking to record in the future, I'd recommend Jamie for sure. Without a doubt, he'll make your work sound the best it can be. Truckstop Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 I don't suppose you could put together a little video explaining how you play Glow Coin? Honestly, I was in a horrible bassplaying rut up until I heard Waking Aida for the first time a few days ago. I'd been playing nothing but covers for the last 3 years and you've really inspired me to pick up my bass for pleasure rather than to learn yet another disco song! I purposely haven't listened to the full album on YouTube because I intend to buy it when I've got a few quid spare. Thanks for the music and all that! Quote
PianoFights Posted February 26, 2015 Author Posted February 26, 2015 Yeah, of course! I'd love to put something together. Really psyched that you enjoy the track. If you haven't seen it already, some friends of ours made a really excellent video for Glow Coin: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=6-kDbUQ35z4 The tapping bass line through the first part of the track is a little ridiculous really. The whole phrase is 11 beats long, but I guess it makes more sense to think of it as a phrase of 5 and then 6. I'll be out of the studio and back home on Sunday. I'll see if I can put something together next week. Audio and video quality is likely to be somewhere in the neighbourhood of crap to poor... I'll see what I can do. Quote
Truckstop Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Crap to poor is my speciality. Cheers pal, I'd really appreciate it! Quote
Luulox Posted February 26, 2015 Posted February 26, 2015 Good stuff, had a listen to glow coin and enjoyed it. Cheers Pete Quote
