His name's Max....didn't take long for him to grow into the massive beast he is today!! I need a quality hound to guard my basses haha!

When I first had him he was tiny, and he would run in and out of the cat flap. Now he can barely get his snout through it!!!!

Hehe oh I see he definitely looks like a Boy now!! My little Staffie Nellie used to use my Grandfather's catflap until one day she came in to the lounge with it and some of the door around her tummy! We got a special dog flap installed at out house instead!!!

Do you watch the programme 'Sent in the dogs' about the Police dogs - lots of lil pups there to look at!!

Ha ha!! That's a crazy story!! How is Nellie these days? All good?

Yeah i've seen bits of that program, it's great seeing what these dogs can do. I've been taking him to dog training once a week myself, he loves it!
I've been watching the dog whisperer as well, that's a good watch.

They are very 'bright' dogs and extremely loyal. Takes loads of walking tho!!! You'd be suprised the amount of negative press they get, although I can understand being the size he is.

Nellie is very well thanks mate! Perhaps I better update my Nellie thread with some new pics!!

The programme is fascinating. The last one featured the lovely boy who could smell a person's trail a WEEK after they had been there, even through a crowd. Just amazing.

I took Nel to 'Training' school at the very start, mostly because with Staffs it is important to 'socialise' them from an early age. The 'Training' was pretty standard stuff which we all knew from having several Labradors. At the end of each 'class' they would have 'puppy play time' where everyone released their hounds for a huge game, it was absolutely heaven. Nellie made best friends with a little pug called Cherry, it was well funny. Glad to hear Max enjoys it too!

The bad press you mention is interesting. I hear LOTS of bad press about yobs with staffie crosses and so on but I have never had so many people come over to speak to my dog and had so many admiring glances (I presume they are looking at Nellie anyway). I have likewise never met a nasty Alsatian. I suppose they are rather large so perhaps intimidating to some but really, a lot of the bad press any breed of dog gets is just lazy reporting.

I have a magic touch with nasty dogs - I just approach them calmly and say to them 'stop being angry' lol and they normally shut up. Quite funny. I think they get a little embarrassed.

BTW what's the story behind the new avatar?! Is that chap being sick or has he taken a beating of some sort?!

Cheers

It's a ripper lads ;-)

Nik - my schedule is a crazy one, but I manage to get everything done...just about haha!!

Ped - The avatar is just some random photo I found on the net which I used as a 'pic' for one of my songs on my myspace player. Yes, get some new photos of Nellie up!! My brother's got a staffie - beautiful dogs indeed.

It's good to see a Ripper on here - massively underrated in my opinion. I bought mine after hearing Patrick Djivas ('that how you spell it?) of PFM - it was incredibly well-played in for just a few years old in '79. I spent much of the '80s having it rodded - that's what we did back then. If I can find the camera...
