Dazed
Nice. No that isn't a typo.... juliusmonk
And that's the second hand price? 😊
Cameronj279
I'd rather go for 10+ uber spec ACG basses if I'm honest. I second Robs comment too.
thebassist
I'd be amazed if this sells for that money!
bubinga5
each to there own, but the words ostentatious, and over priced, leave a very bad taste in my mouth. Edited December 28, 2014 by bubinga5
molan
I saw a cancelled order AJ go on sale not that long ago at about $25,000 and it went in under 24 hours. This one is pretty unique for various reasons and I'd guess it might have cost $35,000 new. However, those unique options could make it harder to sell than a 'regular' AJ with a Holly top. Cosmo Valdemar
I know looks aren't everything, but... But a Molan has said, the demand is clearly there. Edited December 28, 2014 by Cosmo Valdemar
Kev
Incredible, but its a Fodera. This is how much they are, and the pricelist does show that these basses go for $20-35k new. What I find far more incredible is someone paid this, and is now selling it so quickly.
Totally agree. This sort of spec is very much a custom order - Fodera will do anything they can to make a customer happy (as you'd expect in this price range) and it's amazing the lengths they will go to post-sale to help someone if they aren't happy with the spec they ordered. The Badderer
can't believe there are people on talkbass saying this looks good. It looks like a toilet seat lid!! no accounting for taste! Edited December 28, 2014 by The Badderer
Billy Apple
I don't think it looks ugly, but I think it looks rather plain. I always find Foderas aesthetically unpleasing, the bodies seem too wide and flat in relation to the skinny horns.
PlungerModerno
This is unique - very fine work, from what I can see - but not really my cup of tea. Hope it goes to a new player that it suits better - and the seller gets a decent price. From my perspective $30K is more than I would invest in a single instrument - ever (unless it was a historic piece and I had a lot more disposable income!). molan
can't believe there are people on talkbass saying this looks good. I've only ever played one and it was stunning. Absolutely not my kind of bass by any stretch of the imagination but having been able to play one they immediately make 'sense'

White Cloud
I just don't get the whole Fodera thing at all. They do look very nicely put together indeed - but on the other hand, top notch timbers aside they are not built using any particularly special type of materials or building techniques. In fact I would go as far as to say I really don't like the unrefined look of the way in whch they use scarf joints in their purest, but most basic form when forming the headstock/neck joint. I am sure they are superb instruments...but not at that price. I am certain that the AJ bass in question is not worth 6 Wal's or Ken Smiths. JTUK
'Played' a Matt Garrison but to me, they are so specialised they are unplayable.. Not for me...and that applies to Fodera in general anyway. I just don't get them.

M@23
Wow, as mentioned, that thing is ugly. You'd have to have some money to buy another person's custom spec'd second hand bass for 30k!
uncle psychosis
Spectacularly ugly. I'm sure it's a great bass but... Geezo. Fugly.

Personally I prefer the versatility of 2 pickups on my toilet seats in any case so based on that I think I'll leave this to someone else. Dazed
I didn't realise the shape of it on first looking. It's a hybrid hollow body. Look at the size of it. Would be interested to hear what a $30000+ bass sounds

It accomodates one style and limits so many others, as far as I am concerned. Not that keen on ramps either myself, even for thumbing styles...or the scale. I'd call it a quirky bass... and one that is set-up/built for a very stylised player, IMO
