Well it says "Made In Japan" .... But I don't read Japanese too good so I'll have to defer to those that can as far as the rest of the webpage goes .

EDIT: You were referring to the first post's link to the £725 weren't you . . . now we're just talking about different things, as I was talking about the link in post #20 by Woodinblack - the natural finish prestige (SRFF4505). The link is at the top of this post!

16.5mm string spacing.

Damn. I had that on a Status once. Was too tight for me. 17.5mm (as per my Ray5) is the tightest I can manage and I prefer a bit more room than that too.

I'm in the same boat. I could probably adjust to it, but I'm immediately comfortable on 19mm spacing so 16.5mm would take quite a bit of adjustment!

As a previous Dingwall owner I'd like to try one of these (but would no doubt be disappointed in the ridiculously tight string spacing and pencil-thin neck - but that's Ibanez for you!)

As a current Dingwall owner that is exactly what I like about this - proper Ibanez string spacing and thin neck. I really don't get on with the huge dingwall necks.

Huge Dingwall necks? When I had one I found the neck to be pretty damned close to Ibanez thickness wise (which I loved).

As a current Dingwall AB5 and 2 Ibanez Prestige 6 string owner (SR3006 and 5006) I find this model interesting.
My AB5 has a thin neck, on pair with the Ibanez Prestige SR1005 neck I had previously.
Haven't tried Dingwall 6 strings but if they are in the same vein the difference on the nut end of the neck compared to the 6 string SR's can not be big.
I love Ibanez's tight string spacing but get along with the AB5's 18mm as well.

My feeling is with this fanned fret Ibanez is that the 1,5 " difference is not bringing in the real advantages of the FF system.
The B string on my Dingwall is really unlike anything else I tried. Its not so much about thundering open B (or A) string, but the musicality it has even in the upper registers.
I find myself using the B string on this bass a lot more on the 7-12 fret area because it does sound nice with lots of harmonic overtones.

The neck is much bigger than the 505, which is the 5 string ibanez I have at the moment. Not sure what the scales are, will measure it later. I love the ibanez necks, the 5 strings are as big as I would want a bass to be!

And yes, I would agree, the B on the dingwall is the most useable B string on any bass I have ever played once you get higher up the neck. You can go from the B to the E higher up without it sounding completely different.

Hmm.. now I measure it there isn't much in it at the head end, the neck is the same width, the dingwall is a bit deeper. Nearer the body the Dingwall has gained quite a bit which the Ibanez doesn't, it is not too far off straight. It just feels quite a bit bigger.

I prefer the finish on the Japanese market one, but that's just personal taste.
I reckon they'll shift a few of those.

I'm not sure about the future for this one though:

Hmm, I prefer my onboard preamp to be invisible...

Perfect for any musical style? Might get a few odd looks turning up at a motown gig with that one..

I've got to admire them for trying something different, but it's perhaps a bit 'too' different. :)

Really wish they were doing one with fanned frets in the same spec / price range as the sr1205 with the graphite neck rods and nordy singles.
