petergales Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 These are great basses and very under-rated. The name "Basic" doesn't help as it's anything but basic. I used to have one and I can testify to just how well the neck plays. The EQ is also very versatile and gives an amazing range of sounds - a lot more than you would think from a single pickup. It's typical Sandberg quality throughout. GLWTS
Chaos Daveo Posted January 6, 2015 Author Posted January 6, 2015 You are spot on mate basic is the last thing these basses are, they ooze quality.
GrammeFriday Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 Dammit! So close, but yet so far ... A blueburst Basic is right at the top of my GAS list, but it would need to have 5 strings, so sadly all I can offer you is a free bump and a hearty GLWTS. (PS I know Basics are fairly lightweight basses, but ... 1kg? Might that be a typo, there?)
GrammeFriday Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 HTH C'mon 4 string players, snap up this beauty!
longtimefred Posted January 6, 2015 Posted January 6, 2015 This is a belter of a bass! I know Daveo very well and he certainly looks after his gear. Get it bought!
Chaos Daveo Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 Gig bag is included with sale btw, bump.
TRBboy Posted January 8, 2015 Posted January 8, 2015 Amazing instruments! I hope someone snaps this up quick, if it was a 5er I'd be all over it! My first Sandberg was a Basic 4, which made me fall in love with Sandbergs and ultimately sell everything else. I've had two Basic 4's, a California VM4, a Basic Ken Taylor 5, and now have a Basic Ken Taylor 5 and Classic Booster 5, both built to my spec. It's the necks that really do it for me, but they are just superb instruments in every respect. GLWTS!
Chaos Daveo Posted January 8, 2015 Author Posted January 8, 2015 Until this id never played a sandberg and you are bang on the necks are something else, they really are..

[/quote]I knew Oli couldnt resist commenting on a berg! the man speaks the truth though he knows his sandbergs and is a good source of info- these are top basses, very underrated and super comfy to play. only problem is residuals I ended up trading mine with the ever helpful Mark at Bass Direct.

Chaos Daveo Posted January 12, 2015 Author Posted January 12, 2015 Trades for spector, fenders or gibsons considered.
briansbrew Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 I have this same one in Red and yes they are great basses with loads of tone at you fingertips. very underrated
lat89 Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Lovely bass, would you consider trade for either a 1970s Gibson Grabber or 2007 Musicman Stingray?
Chaos Daveo Posted January 17, 2015 Author Posted January 17, 2015 Price Drop £600,buyer collects as above..
28mistertee Posted January 17, 2015 Posted January 17, 2015 I'm after a Precision to partner my USA Jazz bass but this has caught my eye. Passive or active?
28mistertee Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 Ok mate, I'm after a passive really but thanks anyway
GrammeFriday Posted January 18, 2015 Posted January 18, 2015 These are active AND passive - the volume knob is a push-pull active/passive switch.
Chaos Daveo Posted January 18, 2015 Author Posted January 18, 2015 My mistake I've only ever used it active
