Well - maybe not quite so rare but I've been looking for one of these for ages. This ones in the USofA and the likley bid required to secure it , plus the shipping , plus the church boys cut when it gets here makes it a bit rich for my blood.

However - should any of you know where there's one for sale , or if you come across one in the future , please pm me and go to the top of my Xmas card list.

I played one briefly in a shop years ago. It was very playable with a reasonable - if not stunning - core sound. It also had a slight 'cheap' feel to it - hence my unwillingness to part with a fortune for one.
I do, however, think it looks the dogs. And I'd love one for home use and hopefully to find a job of work for.

If it had been more popular maybe they would - which is slightly different.

Nope - it's the idea of a Fender fretless electro/acoustic bit that interests me. And I woudn't want a blue one!

Does it have to have the F word on the headstock?

If not I believe both John Shuker and Rob Allen make P-shaped thin-line basses with piezos and magnetic pickups.

Correct - but they'd be (rightly) wanting proper money for one. My self imposed 'work' ethic won't let me pay proper money for a home use instrument. Plus I'd like a Fender , yes.

yeah, i thought those were MIJ.
there was also the HMT semi acoustic precision, which was fretted, sharkfin inlays with a pointy headstock.

Any ideas?[/quote]

90s Fenders are an odd one. I have a HM series bass which has 'Made in USA' on the headstock, but everyoneI've spokento says it's a Japanese instrument.

If the Fender Electro-Acoustic is too much dosh, check out a Godin G4.

Just about everytime I play my Fender Stratacoustic I wish I also had an acoustic Precision bass to go with it. A fretless sunburst acoustic precision with an F hole would be perfect, and even more so if it had five strings.
