Like the finish, the high frets look a little difficult though.

The bridge seems awfully close to the end of the body...

Yeah it looks like the body needs moved down from the neck a few inches. Imagine everything in that picture staying static and just have the body moved a bit. That would make it a bit more "right" to me.

Although the style does nothing for me, if the quality is anything like their J bass clones - you really can't go far wrong for under a hundred quid! :)

BTW - in reference to the thread title... how is that a "Jazz bass"?

A J type bass I suppose in that the pickups are single coils in the same relative position as with a Fender/Squier Jazz? However with the 2 pot EQ I can't work out if that's a passive tone per pickup or an active 2-band.

I've seen similar things described as jazz basses, even if there is variation. However, just because I've seen them described that way, that doesn't make it true :)

The "BC" in the title stands for "Bass Collection". I can't remember which model, but one of the Japanese Bass Collection models I THINK had two Jazz style pickups.

The "jazz" reference is down to the two J-style pickup configuration I think. The old 5 string Bass Collections had two J pickups where the rest of the range (except the SB330 range) had P/J pickups.

Here's a pic of my old SB315 5-string so you can see the similarities with the JD bass in the first post:
