Warranty repairs.

I bought some new Genelec monitors in November 2014, so they're only 2 months old.

One has rather annoyingly stopped working.

Problem is they came from a store in Germany.

I'm guessing though, that the UK distributor would still get it sorted ?

I've emailed them anyway, fingers crossed.

Surely they have a European warranty? Contact the shop you bought them from would be my advice.

Yeah, they actually have 3 years warranty from Thomann on top of the manufacturers 1 year warranty, I'm just hoping though that the UK distributor will sort it out, after all it'll be Genelec who foots the bill either way.

I'd be a bit pissed if you bought stuff from Thomann and then expected the me ( as the UK distributor who made no money from you) to fix it. You got them cheaper from Thomann and the money you saved is offset by the inconvenience of having to send them back to Thomann for repair.

I bought my first lot of Mark Bass gear, maybe 10 years ago offshore: when I dropped the amp I sent it back to the off shore seller who fixed it under warranty. I saved around £100 on the whole deal ( amp and 2 cabs) but was without my amp for around 3 weeks.

I think under EEC law stuff should have a pan European warranty but as others have said, your contract is with the retailer first ( I think)

I would doubt that the UK distributor (Source Distribution Ltd) will repair it FOC.

They are a separate business from the German distributor and, as a stand alone business in their own right they haven't imported or sold the item and have no legal responsibility for it.

The most likely process would be for it to go back to Thomann and for them to get it repaired using whatever process they have agreed with the German distributors (Audio Export Georg Neumann & Co GmbH).
