wateroftyne
Hi all What kind of strings have black winding on the ends? They're rounds, I think... they don't seem to be half-rounds. Does anyone have any ideas? I had a used set lying around from my last roundwound experiment, and they sound quite good, but I can't remember what they are. DR Sunbeams? Rotos...? Ta! KennysFord
I think they may be rotosounds. I have a set here you can have, they're good to go. pm your address and they'll be in the post to you this week.
budget bassist
I know rotosound swing 66 strings have red windings... so maybe their flats have black as kennyrodg said. Makes sense suppose.

Oscar South
La Bella Hard Rockin' Steels. Great strings too. I think all La Bella strings have a black winding actually, but the only ones I can confirm for sure are those. Huge Hands
My Labella flats all have black, except the replacement B I recently got which was blue (the original snapped after 2 gigs. I have a feeling this may have been the supplier putting a different string in a Labella packet, but I'm not sure. It does feel the same and sounds ok, so no real complaints from me - was just happy to get a replacement.

markytbass
Elites used to have black silks, I don't know when they changed to blue and red. I can't remember Roto's ever having black silks.
TheRinser
Galli? The guy from bass merchant seemed to think so last time i was down there with my fretless. The bass gallery put them on when i asked for a set of elites nickels. Roundwound, black silk, sounded nice...
