Shabbs Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 Hi guys I've just picked up an old Hohner the Jack Professional, similar to this one which I though was active but it appears to be passive. I thought the humbucker version was the active one? Quote
Bassassin Posted January 13, 2015 Posted January 13, 2015 I think all the early Hohner headlesses had those EMG Select humbuckers, active or passive. If it's the same as the B2/B2A Steinberger copy, then the 2 versions are identical apart from the preamp, XLR out & on/off microswitch on the active version. My B2A sounds better with the pre switched off, anyway. Jon. Quote
Shabbs Posted January 14, 2015 Author Posted January 14, 2015 Cheers Jon, haven't even heard it yet, unstrung and needing a good clean and fret dress. Is it purely personal preference or is passive generally more desirable? Quote

sbrag Posted January 14, 2015 Posted January 14, 2015 I had a j style one recently and that was active. I think the hb one could be either Quote
Bassman68 Posted January 16, 2015 Posted January 16, 2015 I bought one back in early '88 & that was passive. Just 2 x EMG select humbuckers & V,V,T controls. Still sounded great. Quote
