bazbass
Up for sale is my Shergold Marathon. The body is nicely worn in, with lots of the usual lacquer cracks and plenty of dings. The neck is good. The action amazing. Electrics all work fine. Pick up has a crack, but works fine. Fitted with Ernie Ball roundwounds. Some history... I bought this brand new in 1980ish from a music shop in Kingston, Surrey. Played in a few punky R'n'B bands and loads of gigs and recording over the next 10 years. Sold it early 90's to a good mate who was a bit of a jazzman. He fitted the brass control panel after the original got damaged and different knobs as well. Also the brass nut, which he made himself, and the thumbrest. Early 2000's I bought it back for my son to learn bass on. He gigged with it too. He doesn't play anymore and the last few years the old gal hasn't had much use at all. I did one gig with it a while ago, but I'm a vintage Hofner man nowadays. The bass is collection only from Wimbledon/Sutton area of South London/Surrey, plus I'd prefer a prospective buyer to see this lovely old guitar in the flesh. I like old and battered, not everybody does. But if you are after a Marathon I believe this is a goodun! Even has the ashtray bridge cover. I might consider a trade involving something old and interesting, maybe an old Hofner bass. I will not post. There is no case or gigbag. Many Thanks Baz Edited January 18, 2015 by bazbass
